How do I figure out what radios work on the 800MHz trunked freq?

Can you be a wee bit more specific to the system you are trying to use? There is a little more to it than "the 800mhz freq".

My goal would to be able to listen to any of these cities when I get a radio:

Does that help any?

To be more specific:

Moraine Fire/EMS Paging (Simulcast of County 800 MHz system)
West Carrollton FD Paging (simulcast on 4464 on County TRS)
West Carrollton City School Buses
Montgomery Co Sheriff simplex

153.74000 565 DPL Splash Moraine FM
154.98000 565 DPL Splash Moraine FM
154.99500 565 DPL Splash Moraine

And any number of channels from this:

Yes. You need a scanner.

Do they require that you pay for your own radio equipment? Wouldn't they issue you the radios for their system, or am i wrong? And you managed to list some VHF as well as some 800mHz freq's in there in that list, and that kind of bandsplit is NOT happening on any Motorola Radio ever made for commercial service & sales.

Radio for work, and scanner for everything else...that's pretty much the deal.

If I seem kinda noobish, Its because I am...

I'll be working for the Youth Corps and I dont think they provide Youth Corps workers w/ radios.

Also, all I really need is Moraine Street Dept, and Moraine Police and Fire...

then contact your system administrator and get a legit radio. If your fishing to get info on programming unauthorized radios on public safety trunking system, look elsewhere. You're not going to get any help with that here.
It has been discussed many times before, and the answer is the same. If you need a radio programmed on a trunked system, then go through your department. They will assist you with that. Most agencies frown upon privately owned radios on their system, but YOUR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR or SYSTEM MANAGER can provide you with the specifics of what radios are permitted on your system and getting the unit programmed.

Otherwise, get a scanner.

Since your somewhat new here, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

When it comes to 800 Trunked radios, you need to go through the system adminstrator for proper programming, if allowed at all. As mentioned above, privately owned radios are almost univerally not allowed on public safety system for many reasons. In addition, you cannot program in trunked systems into radio as you do with convetional systems. Certain software and files are needed that are not publically accessable.

In short, if the job requires a radio, they will provide one if they have one.

Oh, don't forget to have a letter of authorization if someone tells you that you have permission to have it. Could save you ass someday.

With that, the tread is locked for now. If anyone has questions, feel free to PM myself or another member of management.
