Bike Comms with GP340

The short version !
I have TWO GP340's, I have purchased two audio adaptors and two battery eliminators to use them with the autocom system on my motorcycle. everything is fine as long as use the batteries on the 340's as soon as I connect the eliminators the audio adaptor stops working?? the radios still function fine without using the adaptors but Mic and Speaker comms through the adaptor are disabled!.!.!
Any ideas
