I have searched through the old posts and have not found this... perhaps someone can clearify this:

I am trying to order a flash upgrade to R07.00.01 and purchase the Q53 FPP option. The radio it's going to is H18KEH9PW7AN
with Q806, H35, H14 and is firmware Host R06.02.03, flash 5000 0100 00026. I have run into several holds in sales due to questions about the compatibility of the firmware upgrade to my HT's.

The part numbers given to me are T6746A flashport kit for analog HT's (so I've been told) and T6747A flashport kit for digital HT's (so I've been told).

The questions are:
1)what is the correct part number for a Q806 optioned XTS5000 Model3 HT with H35?

2) Do I need a programing key like the JT1000 HT for these XTS5k's
I have?

3)It is a digital IMBE radio with analog capability... am I not correct?
How do I describe it to my sales person?

As far as I know, no.

Every FPP XTS I have ever used did not reqire a key.

q52 is the gov't (non-fcc approved) FPP flash option

q53 is the "new and improved" (read: have to use a dongle) FCC approved FPP flash option

Correct on the Q53. The public domain FPP that even the CPS software says requires a "dongle" to be FCC accepted.

The part number through Parts ID is: PMTN4113 dongle for XTS FPP option.

I am still not clear on the "T" flashport kit number yet.

The dongle that was listed in this thread per Motorola On Line is "Item has been cancelled" no other part number listed.. any know of the valid number?

OK I have received all the needed software and hardware and completed the flash. The facts are:

1) DB25 device with I-button flash software plugs into parallel port alone and is plug n play IDed as Motorola Flash Zap device with Q53 option "enabled" this part # is T6747A for Q806 equiped XTS5

2) USB portable programming cable connected to HT to flash.

3) Radio is read, then I-Button is read and a warning will appear if the HT contains more then 15 zones and 240 channels and ask you to delete max channels to 240 or less. Then HT can be written to with Q53. Watching the HT screen I see that only 2mb is written and may explain why 240 channels/modes is the new limit. What a waste, 2mb is used out of 8mb available.

4) The kicker is this 240 channels/modes (15 zones - 16 channels) will be your max channels from now on. You get 240 channels even if you don't have 240 channels, the software will default program any blank modes under all 15 zones. A call to M tech support confirms this limit. They say this is what makes it "FCC compliant". I have a hard time believing limiting channels is an FCC rule... any comments? Also, this is the limit of a full feature KING HT... interesting.

5) FPP is accessed by a password of your choice entered at the keypad to change frequency, tones, etc. There is no dongle. This is the same as Q52... yes?

Another problem I have is that I HAD 8 personnalities that cover over 400 /channels modes. Now I have a whopping 240 personnalities to adjust settings on, one for every channel. What a chore! Every channel has it's own personality settings. I guess I should be thankful for having FPP and these are the sacrifices? I hope M comes out with a firmware upgrade to release that 6mb of memory that I lost, more $ later. I now have to carry sheets of frequencies to every major incident outside my local area.

Did I miss anything? Will check post later.

I forgot... New radio Host and DSP is now R07.01.01 and CPS used was latest CPS R07.00.01.

What was the final cost?
