I hope you can help me. I bought a Saber III in VHF. The guy I
bought it from told me that the Securenet was shut off. Since I am a
Police Officer, I took it to the radio guy who programs all of the dept.
radios. He put it on his laptop and everytime he tried to access the
programming option it kicks him out. He seems to think that the Securenet
is on. Is there anyway to get around that? He told me that if the
Securenet is on, there is no way around it because you need a "Shooter
Box" and there is a password to it that could be almost anything. I am
lost now I bought this radio to use at my job, but the dept will only
give me the money if the radio works. What are my options for programming

Take the battery off for a few minutes if there is a code, it will be gone without power to the radio.

Even if Securenet is enabled in the radio's codeplug, and the module has a valid key or keys, you should still be able to read the radio and program it. Saber radios do not have codeplug password protection, as far as I know.

More information would be helpfull. Is the programming software reporting a specific error? Has the programming platform (software + computer) successfully programmed other radios of the same series (i.e. other Saber radios)? Is the radio shop using the correct software (i.e. Saber RSS)?

Often times, it may be as simple as the accessory contacts that the programming cable connects to are dirty. Rubbing the contacts vigirously with a pencil eraser usually cleans them up OK.

Also, where are you located? There may be someone from the board who is close that may be able to take a look at the radio for you.
