Footswitch PTT with Visor mic?

For a CDM1250 install.I have never seen nor have we done one.Anyone here have experiences with this?
Police Chief locally saw it years ago at a convention and wants one now.
Thanks in advance for any info,suggestions,advice or wise guy remarks.

yes it can be done off the back connector, and you have to verify the programming of the connector. buy any ol' footswitch you like, that will create the connection between 2 pins on the back to make it transmit. Then find a visor mic that sounds halfway decent and hook it to the 2 mic audio pins on the back of the 1250. see the batlabs page for all the info you will need on the connector

tell him he has to get a vehicle with the ol' floor mounted highbeam toggle for it to work!!! That should get a nice response from him!

You might warn him that it will sound awful with any background noise in the vehicle. In a high speed chase with the siren on nobody will be able to understand a word he says.

it is for 4 unmarked cars.remote siren,remote CDM heads and a 100watt siren.going to try one first and see how it works with all kinds of noises in backgroud.

visor mic has been run thru tests all of all sorts.wind,noise,siren blaring and such.working good so far.footswitch is kina awkward,but its like riding a bike.....I guess.
Mobile mic/PTT setup...

Footswitch will work fine as long as it's a momentary and not
alternate action on/off. With the latter he could leave the radio
on the air when he doesn't intend to do so. In other words, make
it just like the PTT switch on the mic.
The guy I once worked for in the pro sound business had a very
nice, high-quality lav condenser mic wired for his AMPS cellular
mobile and mounted it on the visor above his head. It worked fine
and sounded great as long as the window was closed, but the mic
had just too much response for a comm system. An el-cheapo dynamic
element would have worked much better, but he was an audio guy
and you couldn't tell him anything when it came to the subject. The
distance he had to maintain from the mic obviously didn't help any,
either.

I am glad to hear it worked for you with no serious noise pickup. My experience several years ago was a hidden installation in an undercover unit. It always sounded like he was in a wind tunnel and was almost unreadable unless the vehicle was stopped with the windows closed.
