I've searched and saw some on how the radios should be programmed but I am wanting to get your tips and hints just on the basic stuff to have what should be turned on what shouldn't be and what levels should whatever be.

I'm just going to take the radio to a MSS and let them do it since I can't get mine to program for some odd reason...

Just needed basic tips, hints and suggestions and I'm looking for an opinion

What do you all think of this radio???? - Worth it, Junk?, Whatever you wanna fill me in on this radio.

Also I have a question about the MDC - I have my portable and my mobile as Post Only as 1615... What do I need to set the settings for the end of it so all of the MDC gets out.... Please give me all settings.

I just want to walk into the MSS shop and tell them what I want without being hassled.

One more question..... Is there a setting in the CPS that you can turn up the wattage or whatever.... Like it says Max 55 and Min 25 or whatever and are those adjustable?

Sorry - I've created a thread for myself lol

Um...you can edit...just click on the "edit" icon on your post & away you go. The only forum you can't edit posts in is the For Sale/Trade/Wanted forum, due to past problems with people offering a specific item or price, then going back & changing it.

As far as your questions, yes, there is a "tx power" tab under "radio configuration" where you can set the high & low power values to pretty much whatever you want.

For the MDC, there isn't much to set when using "post" ID...just enable the MDC signalling in the TX & RX part of the conventional personalities you want it in & it'll encode/decode it.

Otherwise, the main thing to watch for is the settings in the conventional personalities under the "advanced" tab. Most times, the 'compression' and 'expansion' fields should be left disabled (unless you're dealing with narrow-band frequencies), and make sure the 'pre-emphasis & de-emphasis' is enabled, or the radio will sound very flat & tinny.

OK the scan thing is kinda confusing to me... Remember guys I'm migrating from a Kenwood to a Motorola mobile.... Does the 1250's have the same when you have the mic on the hook ( grounded ) it will scan but when you take it off the hook it reverts back to Ch 1 like the Kenwood's do and if so how do you set that?

Radio Configuration->Scan->Hook (HUB) Suspends Scan
I usually set this to Suspend All Scan.

Another setting for the HUB:
Radio Configuration->Basic->Hook (HUB) Defeats PL
I normally check this.
