MCX1000 programming problems

I'm trying to read an MCX1000 I have using R01.01.00 of the RSS.

I built my own cable from the diagram on this site, checked and triple checked the pinout, a known working RIB, a known working PC.

When I read the radio I get this error:
Serial port failure. Power fault.

Whats odd is I get this error whether anything is connected to the PC or not. I tried a different PC, and got the same error.

I know there are many threads here on the MCX1000, but I haven't seen one that addressed that issue.
Any ideas ???

What are the exact specs of the PC you are using? MCX RSS will croak on anything faster than a 286 or maybe 386-16SX.

Moslo is your problem. Been there, done that with the MCX RSS; they don't play nice with each other. Had to use a 286 machine.

Tried r02 of the RSS and encountered the same problem.
Since it is happening on more than one PC, I tend to agree with you :(
Now if I can find an old pc w/o spending any money on it ....
