Compaq 6010US power supply

Post by seoboss »

Hello, the power supply on my Compaq 6010US desktop computer went belly up. I guess its a proprietary supply. Does anyone know where I can get one reasonably priced, or if there is a mod out there that will let me use a different power supply?

Thanks for any help!

Get the Compaq spare part number off the supply and look here...

Click on Compaq Supplies under power supplies.

Thanks! The resource is great, but...

The spare part number is 271398001; THE PRICE IS $185!!! (all the other supplies are around $35)

I suppose I'll pay that if that's what it takes to get the computer back up and running; If anyone has any other ideas, that might be less expensive, I'd like to hear from you first though.

Thanks again!

depending on how computer savy you are, and if the motherboard is some sort of atx standard you could recase the computer into a case that accepts a standard powersupply.

EDIT: also i looked around google, that seems to be the running price regardless of where you buy them from. Good ole compaq and there
proprietary bs.

A little cheaper..

I have seen them show up on fleabay for the $50 range before. Most of the online sellers get $100 plus for them.

You can also try searching for the original part number instead of the spare part number.
