I've read the Astro Saber files here and found nothing that relates
directly to my questions.

1. I can only get an Astro Saber I UHF to accept and run 31 channels.
Channel 32 accepts a program but gives a trouble beep when the
channel is selected.

2. My zone A sets up with channels 17-32, and zone B sets up with
channels 1-16, which seems backwards. Can this be corrected in
the RSS setup screens?

3. Receive audio has a definite echo/ringing sound. Can this be
changed, or is it a characteristic of this radio?

You might want to list your complete model number.
I have several H04RDC9PW5AN radios. I haven't tried to
fill them up to the 32 channel capacity though. I seem to remember
that you can only scan 15 out of 16 channels in a zone.

Have you tried switching the zones around. I not sure if switch
position A should corespond to zone 1 though.

An astro saber will have a digital audio delay even when working
in analog mode. This is because the analog audio is being converted
to digital in the radios backend and dsp.
Could that be the echo you are hearing. Where are you hearing it? On another receiver or scanner?

I got the zone/channel problem fixed with the help of a member here. The
zones had somehow gotten switched and I had programmed 17 channels
in one zone and 15 in the other.

On the audio, yes, it's the ringing and slight delay sound on the receiver of the Astro, and what you said is what I imagined it must be. Just takes some getting used to, I suppose. The radio is an H04RDC99PWSAN, by the way.
