Today's local paper.
Chicago---- Motorola Inc. said Monday it is selling it's automotive electronics business to German tire co. Continental AG for about 1 billion, enabling the cell-phone maker to focus more on communication technology.
The 4,500 employee unit which had about 1.6 billion in sales last year, makes telematics products used for vehicle navigation and safety services, as well as sensors used in steering, braking and power doors and windows. The companies said the cash deal is expected to close by the end of June.

Are we suppose to be shocked by this ongoing /\/\ news? At the rate /\/\'s Ed "The Chain-Saw" Zander is proceeding by chopping off portions of the company's revenue, eventually /\/\ will probably off load 99.9% of their overhead personnel and all of the assets throughout the remaining segments or divisions. Then becoming a Corporate Leader as a true "World Class Sell-U-Ler Independent Financial Company" without any marketable products or services just managing their M-O-N-E-Y. This is generally known as a Wall Street Financial Stock Broker.

In theroy....... but you would not actually own anything you bought, the intellectual rights would still belong to the defunct company.

T%his surprises you? I said it before, any area of Motorola that doesn't conform to Zander's "vision" of the "connected home" will get sold.

I am sure that they will stipulate in the terms of the auction agreement that nothing actually belongs to the purchaser, regardless of the type of equipment that it is. That way, they can come along and file a lawsuit when they feel the need.
sarcastic rant mode off.......
