I recently purchased a VHF HT1250 from someone used online. I took it to someone to get it programmed, however he's telling me that he can't get the radio to open. He says it tells him the port won't open. However he can open other HT 1250's without a problem. Any ideas?

what is the model number on the back of the radio? it's possibel it's not a ht1250, it could be a pro7150 with a 1250 sticker on it. and what happens when you turn the radio on, does it work or say eeprom error or what? it's also possible that your ribbon cable is bad inside or try cleaning the side terminals on the radio with a pencil eraser. another thing to try is opening a codeplug from another radio with the same model number and try to write it to the radio without reading yours first.

that says it is an american version of the radio and it's a vhf and a limited keypad non trunking radio. he should be able to do it. try opening a codeplug from another vhf radio and writing that to your radio first then try altering it.
