Installing two versions of the same CPS ?

Guys:

I have frequent need to program xts3000 radios with both version 2 and the latest and greatest version. Some radios we want to use with the latest, and then there are a few we want to keep RSS compatible, so using version 2 is desirable.

Can anyone come up with a good way to install both versions on the same computer? Have been using two different PCs but that is starting to be a PIA.

You can do it. When you install the second copy, just change the directory it is installed into. And edit the name on the shortcut so you know what copy you are using.

Keep in mind - you should open codeplugs from within the version you wish to use. By default, windows will probably choose the last version of the CPS installed to launch.

Watch this carefully, as one click can upgrade your radio to the later codeplug!

Boy do I feel like a retard. Yep, if I had just stopped long enough to read instead of clicking next the entire time, I would have realized that I can do this.

Good points too Alex.....I'll be sure to keep them seperated by directory so I don't get them mixed up.

Ok, well I got them both installed, but couldn't get version 5 to run....It had an error. So I ended up un-installing both, and am attempting to reinstall.

It now does not give me the option to specify which directory things to into. Any ideas?

sounds like you are using windows xp, it's seeing two different .exe files with the same name and getting confused. try it on a machine with 98 or me.
