Astro Spectra Audio Processor SRN?

Astro radios and I have had nothing but a quarrel since I first got an XTS3k back in 2002.

For whatever reason, the audio circuitry causes RF noise to be emitted on 160.800Mhz... and, if anyone from the NE is familiar with that frequency, it's a widely used railroad frequency used here by Conrail, and it's a priority that I be able to monitor it.

Now, the XTS3k although it's 800Mhz, does the same thing, but shoot. I can turn it off, or move it a bit further from the radio to get rid of the proble... my Astro Spectra creates a birdie whenever it receives something and the antenna is anywhere near the radio.... ie, running mobile gives me issues... I don't think a base setup with the antenna >20' away gave me grief.

Is there an SRN about this somewhere? There is clearly a sheilding issue at fault here.. with the cover removed from the top half of the spectra, it causes RFI on 160.800 without the audio circuity necessarily activating the speaker.

FYI, the radio was made from a VHF Spectra, UHF 403-433Mhz Astro Spectra, and a VHF Wide-band RF board. Original DSP/Host version dated back to 1996 (DSP 6, Host 8)... now it's R11 and DSP 8 and it still does it.

It's a crock of crap and I wish there was a solution... how do Railroad Astro Spectras function if the audio circuits are an RF Noise Hell on the railband?

Damn Motorola and their noisy processors.
