find someone with programming software, a rib, a cable and a codeplug and try to program it with a good codeplug. Most MSS shops have these for programming them, and might even have a good codeplug kickin around...

your cps is kinda old. what message does it tell you when you try to write a good codeplug to the radio? and what did you do to it that you got the cs error on the radio?

"unable to unpack Type Control Block", just walking around, it turned off and this was the error when it turned on.

you could try the newest cps and it might help. i've actually had that happen to me, i turned the radio on with a very low battery and it asked for my password, when i entered it and pushed enter, i got eeprom cs error. but i just wrote the codeplug back to the radio with a charged battery and it was ok.

Sometimes you can force a firmware upgrade and revive them.

Yes, that often works when overwriting with a good codeplug doesn't. It just depends on exactly where the checksum (CS) error resides.

You need to have the firmware from motorola and a flash adaptor key, also from motorola. The firmware is on motorolas dealer web site. If you are not a dealer then I'm not sure how you could get the firmware, I guess call the big M and see if they will sell it to you along with the newest version of CPS.
