Radius Handset (low audio)

I've got a transit/cell phone style handset, the Motorola one. When I plug it into any radio (CDM, Maxtrac, Radius, etc) the audio is VERY low.

I figured it might have been the handset but I tried a few of them and they all do the same thing.

Is there some way to adjust the output on the handset pin, or is there a semi-easy way to jack it up? It's so low, road/wind noise completly drown it out. Thanks for any input!

is it scratchy sounding when you can hear it like if the voice coil was rubbing the magnet or the speaker part was torn? and can you get it apart and see what the impedence is on the speaker? do you have another one to compare it to?

Nope, I've tried several handsets and they all do the same thing. Different handsets on different radios. Same story. So, the handset jack just doesn't provide enough "push", and I need to find a way to jack it up.

Handset audio in the Radius mobiles is fixed level. It is picked up from the top of the volume control connection on the logic board through a 10K resistor. The only possibility would be to change the value of that resistor.
