Motorola Xts5000 question:

Hi, My question is if i get a Xts5000 800mhz radio to scan the talkgroups in my area which uses Motorola Type II SmartZone: and is in the process of moveing to a digital Project 25 Standard system" will the radio need to affiliate or transmit to the tower to scan apco-25 only? Or any other digital radio.

You can only set up an XTS5000 to "auto affiliate" on trunking systems. You can't set it to "affiliate on PTT only" like you can with an XTS3000 or MTS2000.

Will it need to affiliate to the tower in order to scan the talkgroups or can you just program in the talkgroups to hear them.
