Maratrac dual head help

Post by 911-EMT »

Is there a way on a maratrac to hook it up as a dual head setup, for an ambulance?

I've seen it done by just wiring two heads in paralell.

There's a radio shop around here that did quite a few of these, however, the 2 heads will get their channels out of synch occasionally.

I once 'made' a control head to parrallel with an A7 head. Nothing more than a few seven-segment LED displays, a few pushbuttons, and a box. The components were simply wired in parrallel with the corresponding component in the A7, and connected with two peices of CAT-5 cable around 80' long. My particular setup consisted of volume up/down, channel up/down, scan on/off, and two seven-segment displays. The application it was used in only needed 8 or 9 channels, so I used one display for channel display, and the horizontal bars in the other for 'indicator lights' (TX, busy, and scan on/off). The mic and speaker at the 'remote' head was wired into the VIP port of the A7. How the enclosure is made is, of course, up to you. And the local /\/\oto dealer told us that we couldn't put a second control head on a Maratrac!
