I'm looking to set up a mount for a screwdriver antenna on an '04 Grand Marq, and am looking for ideas.

This isn't to be a full time mount - only when I am on a long trip, not driving around town. Ideally, I'd like a solution that either

a) can be removed when not in use
or
b) is not very visible when not populated.

I'm thinking something like a Class 1 trailer hitch with a receiver mounted antenna, but I am not wedded to the idea.

Does anybody have any good suggestions? Does anybody have any experience with low-visibility hitches?

What base does the antenna have? If it's a 3/8" mount you could get one of the flat bar mounts that you bolt to the frame or rear bumper support underneath and then it's just a matter of unscrewing the antenna and putting it in the trunk when not in use.

The problem with newer vehicles is there isn't a metal bumper on the back to strap to anymore. But most have access to a bolt for the rear bumper support or a frame location to bolt to.
