Is there any special trick to where to put the files on the hard drive so that it finds Disk #2 files? No matter what I've tried it won't install from the hard drive. I was gonna do floppies but the files from disk 1 won't fit on to 1 disc.

if they don't fit on a disk then they are not original install files. you need your original disks and it will create it's own directory for you.

I do not have the original disks. These are a backup of the original files from the disks. The way I have understood it in the past was that when the original disks were made it all fit due to some trickery that was done.

there's no trickery involved, the files are just compressed and if you made backups of the originals then they will still fit on a floppy.

You know, it's pretty obvious what i'm up to here. Yet still, you have to be an ass and take the high road. Yes, obvioulsy if I were installing from the original disks then this wouldn't be an issue. If I had the disks I would be installing from them. But since I do not have the original disks, telling me that installing from them is no help and only serves to aggravate me.

I am asking for help with the situation I am in, if you can't offer any helpful ideas then do not respond.

OK, I figured out a workaround. Basically you have to edit the install.dat file to change Disk #2 into Disk #1 and then move the astro.002 file to the same dir as the disk 1 files. Do not move the disk.id file from #2 just leave it or delete it.

After that things should install as normal. I don't think I made any other changes but if it doesn't work let me know I will look at the file again.

I can't seem to find my 9.03 disks, but 9.01 and 9.05 have the same file names:

Disk 1

DISK.ID
INSTALL.DAT
INSTALL.EXE
README.TXT
RSS.001

Disk 2

DISK.ID
RSS.002

Hope this helps you out.

That looks about right with what I have but at least one of the files on disk 1 is too big. It all adds up to about 1.9MB total.
