HT1550 Different Scan Lists for Different Zones?

Post by ranger88 »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to program an HT1550 to use a different scan lists in different zones. I have been told by the service shop that it is not possible; however, I know that it is possible to create more than one scan list. So, I thought that it might be possible to select a different list for each zone.

Thanks,
Brock

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

Sure it is...

create as many scan lists as there are zones you want scanned, then for every channel in the zone, select that scan list, go zone by zone... as in channels 1-16 zone 1, scan list 1, 17-32- zone 2, scan list 2... etc.

Finally, program the scan lists with those channels and program it all in.

Thanks for the response,

The service shop said that they could do that, but could not figure out how to assign the scan list to the correct zone. For example, If they made 3 lists, only list number 1 was scannable, no matter which zone the radio was in.

HT1550 Scan

Post by WFD44 »

Each "personality" or "channel" can have a different scan list. In my first zone I have twenty "channels" with five different scan lists covered. Channels 1 & 2 are scan list 1 - Channels 2-4 are scan list 2 - channel 5 is scan list 3 - channels 6-9 are scan list 2 - channels 10-12 are scan list 4, etc.

The only issue is that the scan list must be assigned to the personality at the time the radio is programmed with the computer.

If you really don't mind pushing alot of buttons, you could in theoy have a different scan list for each channel and have the programmer set each scan list to be user programmable. This would allow you to edit and change the scan list members and priority for each channel from the keypad. I have been thinking of setting up my primary personalities in that fashion.

Remember the more members of the scan list the slower it scans. That's just the way it is. Try to keep your scan lists as short as possible. None of mine are over eight channels. But the radio will scan up to 16 channels at a time.

But to clearly answer your question your service shop needs to look at the CPS more closely. They will not see additional scan lists to pick until they create them. So for someone that has only used the default programming it would look like there is only one scan list.

Hope this helps.
