Has anyone tried the ID-O-Matic on a GR300 for CW ID? It has a 10 minute timer, a beacon timer, a courtesy tone and seems to be able to sense a COR signal and can control a PTT input.

If so, please let me know. I have a couple of questions before I start.

Thanks,

I use the Commspec ID8

The Commspec ID8 does all that, and is easier to add in and program.

Yeah, but that ID-O-Matic is a hell of a lot cheaper... Looks pretty cool too!

I think it would work just fine as long as it's programmed and wired correctly.... Seems the ideal thing for a lower-end repeater such as the GR 300.

I just tried it - couldn't be easier.

From the RICK J4 to the ID-O-Matic
Pin 2 - MIC In to the Audio Out
Pin 3 - PTT to PTT
Pin 7 - Gnd to Gnd
Pin 8 - COR to Start.

Configure the IDer for the delay time, the tone, the message (start the message with :<sp><sp> to give a little delay or it chops off the beginning) and key up the repeater.

I also jumpered 15 and 16 on J4 so that I could hear the rx audio.

GREAT $20 ider. It also does Beacon (id every hour) and a courtesy beep.

Glad it worked out for you. Looks like a nifty product... If I needed something like that, I'd surely buy one of those vs. a $60 Communications Specialists ID-8 that does the same thing...

Is it really worth building a kit to save $40.00 ?

Of course... if your time is worth nothing.

UPDATE:

The Repeater Module replaced the R.I.C.K.

Now the ID-O-Matic II replaces the dammed R.I.C.K..
