Hello All,
I was just wondering if there is a way to change the audio tone that is produced when your MDC identifier is being transmitted? I have heard different tones out there and was just wondering if there is any way to change either the pre or post audio tone produced.
I currently have R06.04.00.
Thanks

Nope. The tone itself is fixed. The only thing you can change is the duration.
Sidetone is continuous from PTT to when it is clear to talk. Short Sidetone just beeps once when it is clear to talk. If you enable both, it will do both.
Normal sidetone:
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep
Short sidetone
____________________ Beep
Both
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Beep.

The actual tone produced by the radio when you use the PTT cannot be changed. Tones seems to common to various radio lines. For instance, the MT1000, Saber's all sounded the same. The ASTRO radios sound the same yet produce a different pitch.
Same also goes for the actual databurst heard on the radio. Each send the same information, but the tone of the datapacket is a little different from each other. Compare an analog saber with a HT1000 (or any other radio) and you can hear they are almost different.
HOWEVER, this just occured to me, the closest you can get to doing this, is by using an alternate meathod with certain HT1000/Visar (Jedi series radios) as decribed here:

Not really what you were looking at, but at least something to play with.
