RU familiar with Scholer-Johnson boards?

I have 4 P1225 portables, and each one has the red SJI 1225 board installed in place of the traditional DTMF PCB. These radios will no longer be on an LTR system, so I just want to use them conventionally.

Ideally, I'd like to keep the SJI boards installed but bypass their LTR functionality so I can just program & use the radios conventionally, like normal P1225's. But here's the problem: when I disable the option board in the RSS, I lose RX audio on all channels during conventional operation. They transmit fine, but even with the volume turned all the way up, I can barely hear the calling party. This issue occurs with all 4 radios. Now, if I replace the SJI-1225 board with a regular 1225 DTMF board, the radio works perfectly with loud RX audio. But with the SJI installed, no RX audio.

Have you had similar experience with these Scholer-Johnson boards? What's the fix? Alternatively, anyone have any cheap 1225 DTMF boards (HLN9432)?

I'd recommend calling SJI directly and asking them. They tend to be helpful most of the time
