Can someone give me the Cat # for the adapter to connect coax from a SO239 connector to the motorola connector preferabbly at Radio Shack.

I have a CDM1250 and the adapter broke today after girlfriend hit it with her foot on accident.

I'd like to suggest that you consider the adapter CABLE version. I bought a bunch on eBay a while ago. Mini-UHF male at one end (fits most late-model Motorola radios), about 6 inches of flexible RG58 coax, and a molded SO-239 at the other. Electrically the same as the one-piece adapter but a lot more forgiving.

Depending on who's selling them, you could spend $8-$16 for them.

Can need one kinda fast so will have to settle for the no coax adapter.. Please if you can provide information on a Cat # for Radio Shack if at all possible.

Yeah I would suggest the coax kind, as the 1-piece connector can cause alot of strain/wear/ or even breakage if too much pull is put on it.

I have not seen the connector at RadioShack for some time now, and I don't think I ever have. Looking on their site, it is not listed at all.

Really in a bind. I'm in Dayton for the Hamvention and now I don't have a mobile radio to TX on GRRR>

Find a local RadioShack, walk around to where they have all the other RF connectors and adapters, and pull one off the wall. Probably about $4. Can't get one faster than that.

Plenty of adapters for sale on eBay for $2.50 and up.

The cable is a Motorola HKN9557 (or HKN9557A) Mini-UHF Antenna Adapter. Plenty for sale for between $10 and $11 at regular two-way radio suppliers. None for sale on eBay at the moment.

So is Dayton dry at the moment?!?!?! Monday's forecast said rain until Sunday, which of course will ruin the outdoor flea market.

Dayton is dry right now and sunny.. Did have some hard rain but things are better now...

Thats why I need the CAT # cause I already been to 2 radio shack snad they said they don't have them.

Last time I needed these I got them in two days by mail
from the guy in Gaithersburg MD who sells them and
they cost $3.00 each plus shipping. I think he's called
the RF Connection but I'm not certain. Much better and
faster than RS and the guy knows what you're talking
about when you contact him. I'll try to dig out the record
on this and post it.

wouldn't it be faster to just put a mini uhf on your coax and be done with it?

Radio Shack sells the mini-uhf to RG58 cable adaptor. They no longer sell the UHF to Mini UHF adaptor.. they really don't sell any adaptors anymore, R/S sucks.

No, but they're not available from purchase at any radio shack, not even in their catalog, so I don't see what good it would do you even if I have the number.

If you were referring to the Mini UHF to RG58 cable connector, I dunno the part number, but radio shack should have it in-stock.

I never knew Radio Shaft to carry any mini-UHF connectors of any kind. If they did, they'd be junk anyway.

I strongly suggest as mentioned above that you get the cable with the correct connectors at each end and not the one-piece adapter. The torque of the coax yanking the mini-UHF around through that long (relatively speaking) one-piece adapter will break the adapter or the connector on the radio in short order.

That and RadioShack uses springs in-line in their 1-piece connectors most of the time, instead of the solid copper or w/e that would normally go thru. Not a good thing.

From Radio Shack's website (which you could have checked yourself since you're on the internet anyway) 278-168 looks like a twist on mini uhf connector for RG-58 (I say looks like because it doesn't actually say it's a mini-uhf, just says 'mini twist on').

If in dire need that might do, but as others said, RS connectors aren't known for their quality.

If you are indeed using RG-58 coax, and there's no other reason you need a PL on it (such as needing to use the same antenna on another radio at times) I would suggest doing away with any kind of adapter and go with a good quality mini-uhf crimp connector, something like this type with the gold center pin (you don't want the hollow tin pin type)

Of course you need a proper pair of crimpers to put them on (ie. NOT pliers). If you don't have any or don't want to buy a pair, see if you can borrow some.

I am at a Radio Shack right now, using their internet station. Radio Shack part number is 278-174. $5.29

Adapts a UHF male (PL-259) to fit a mini-UHF female.

Any word on where the above mentioned "jumper" type adapters can be purcahsed? I'd be interested in picking a few of those up to add to my bag of goodies.
