I am looking at purchasing an XTS3k with the following info. Will it work with a 9600bps P25 system? The seller says that it works on a 3600bps system but is unsure if it will work with a 9600 system.

Model: H09UCF9PW7BN (806-870MHZ 1-3W 255-CHANNEL)

Flash: 1000010000007 (IMBE, P25, Conventional)

R07.08.00

DSPN 08.02.02

Thank you!

Nope. In fact, that radio won't trunk at all; the flash is for IMBE and conventional only. For 9600 baud, you need the Q361/G361 APCO-25 trunking option.

Hope you're going through the proper channels to get on MSPCS.. your state is one of two places where some guys got popped in a big way for unauthorized radio programming.

The short answer is No.

Your radio must have firmware version 06.xx.xx in order to support P25 trunking and also must be flashed for it.

Also, your seller isn't being 100% truthful about the 3600 bps trunking either. Your radio firmware is capable of it but the flash does not support it.

As-is, this radio will do P25 conventional only.

Oh crap - I forgot to post that I found the answer ... after about 40 minutes of searching. Thanks for the replies though. I'll be looking for a 2500 or 5000 now.

Make sure that they have the trunking FLASH option you are looking for, too - or you could be in the same boat again. You can find XTS-2500 and XTS-5000 radios that are P-25 conventional only...just beware. :)
