while under normal operating conditions, if I adjust the volume slowly, the radio will shut off and power back up. Seems to happen in 1/4 to 1/2 volume setting. I feel as though this is simply a power/volume switch problem. Am I correct? The radio has the latest firmware and programmed with the latest cps.

I would say you are correct in thinking it's the power switch, although it could also be the solder connections. Try a resoldering & see what happens.

I agree with Wavetar. Solder joints at the on/off/volume control is one of the most common problems with portables since the GP300 days.

I think there was a mention of that problem in a SRN, if I can find it I can email it to you.....

I thank you. As I opened the radio to solder the switch connections, I remembered that this was done a few years back also. Perhaps it just needed a touch-up. Sounds stupid to have to solder the contacts every few years. The symptoms came on suddenly when it started acting up. That must have been it though, two days and no problems since. Thanks!
