SOFTWARE ENCRYPTION OPTION ON ASTRO SPECTRA

Post by wazzzzzzzzup »

ok did a search, not finding anything exact...

if an astro spectra has the "software encryption option" is that DES selectable with the ability to load keys thru the Software? or is it some kind of low securuty encryption not compatible with anything else?

It's not DES.

Only works on VSELP if I recall. The option is in the 4F1E whoreflash, but it's incompatable with IMBE.

You can type in a key in to the software, and as long as the radios have matching keys, it's just low grade cryptography.

Should be good enough in use with VSELP... common... who can even monitor that as it is.

yep i know, VSELPs pretty uncommon, but i still like running VSELP with DES, just gives me that little extra warm feeling inside knowing some casual listener cant hear me

Unless someone has a VSELP radio, they can not decode it anyways. Scanners were never made that decoded VSELP.
