ChargeGuard Wiring

I picked up a few ChargeGuard Model CG-12D's. The wiring is obvious except for a red wire coming out the side which is soldered to an internal molex header.
Any help or ideas?
TIA
Mark.

I'm looking at a Model CG-12D right now and there is no wire coming out the side. There are two terminals on one end for 12 volts in and out. The other end has a black ground wire and a reset switch. That's it. Was your's a used one and possibly modified? This isn't much help but I'm just curious what is different with the one you have.

Thought it might be a modification but its pretty neatly done and all three units are identical. Wire is connected to J2-2. I was just curious but I'll tie it off and connect the GND, OUT and BAT as normal and see if it works.

It sounds like the modified units that came with our POS Litton MDTS. They removed a .001 uf cap on the circuit board and added the wire. The wire is ignition sense.
A normal Chargeguard detects the change in voltage when the vehicle is started to turn on.

From an email received from W1KNR,
This red wire is a modification providing an ignition sense for use in
certain applications where the charge guard did not function correctly.
This wire is routed to a point where voltage is applied when the
vehicle is started “key on”. Good Luck
Thank you for the info and I have verified this to be true.
