Everyone know that the ASTRO W5 control head can direct to connect the XTL-5000(110W Radio) (Bypass that Remote Interconnect Board) ?

Because I know that Mid-Power XTL-5000 Radio not use the Remote Interconnect Board can direct to connect the radio and the control head.

I use the same pin-out connect the W5 head to the 110W radio, the radio can not power on ....Why :( :( :( ????????????????

If connect the W3 Head to the radio(Bypass the Remote Interconnect Board). The W3 head's display can only show XTL-5000, all the Icon and 3 blank function boxes, all the key no function... It is case show both mid-power radio and 110W radio ... why...why... :( :( :( :( ??????????

All high powered motorola radios have used the interconnect board. Haven't seen a way around it.

What exactly are you trying to do?

In addition, the XTL5000's are loaded with (according to the price/order sheet at least) with specific control head software, and appears not to be easliy modified like the 1st generation astro mobiles.

You need the correct interconnnect for either the /W3 the or the W4/5/7/or 9 heads.

If the radio is a W1 model, you can use any head on it, as that model will support any of the heads listed.

Don't forget the high power programming cable to complete the package.

I have used the W5 remote-mount Head, at mid-power radio connected following pins : GND , PTT , Mic Hi , Spk+ , Spk- , SwB+ , emerg , A+(X2),
ING , Bus+ , Bus- , LH_Busy , LH_Rest . At Rear Accessory Connector connected IGNITION . The radio can work..

At the high power radio connected following pins :GND , PTT , Mic Hi , Spk+ , Spk- , SwB+ , emerg , A+(X2), Bus+ , Bus- , LH_Busy , LH_Rest .
Because high power radio no rear accessory connector, so no connected the ING(IGNITION)..The radio can not power on....

I have used the W3 Head at both radio, connected following pins : Bus+ , Bus- , Busy, A+(5V) , GND , SwB+ , PTT , Mic Hi. Radio can power on ,but W3 head can display and no function...

All that test , I haven't the interconnect board...
