PR1500 Prog. Cable Question

Post by Vercomm »

Just wondering which cable would be the best to buy from /\/\oto for the PR1500. USB or Serial. Reason I ask is these are supposed to be flash upgradeable and wondering if you could do so with a USB cable, or would you need the serial cable with some kid of interface device like the Waris Series?

Nope, buy the USB. It's faster.

make a note here, the PR1500 uses the same cable as the XTS 5000 series radios...

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

i use the factory usb cable and it works perfect, you can even use it for future upgrades. the only thing i havn't tried is using it on a mts2000. anyone tried that yet?

If it works on the '5000 series, which should also work on an HT1000, it should work for an MTS2000, no?

My jedi cable read and wrote to my XTS5000 model 1 just fine and was able to read my MTS and write my HT1000.

No.

The HT1000 and MTS2000 do not have a USB interface built in the radio.

no i don't think it will work on an ht1000 since that's rss and in dos, usb won't work there. but the mts2000 is cps. i'll have to get ahold of an mts and try it, the worst that could happen is that it won't work.

My bad once again, I meant xts3000, NOT the 5000. I guess I was paying too much attention to the radio type in the question being asked rather than my own response.

Sorry for the confusion.

The XTS1500/2500/5000/MT1500/PR1500 programming interface is completely different than the HT1000/MTS2000/XTS3000/whatever other Jedi radio you want to insert here. The cables are not compatible between the models. It does not matter if you are using USB or Serial, RSS or CPS....XTS3500 & older require the RIB & Jedi cable.
