MTX850/8250 codeplug hack?

Post by Romario »

I see in the CPS menu that there's the option for SmartZone/Omnilink, but it's greyed out.

Motorola does not make reference to SZ or Omnilink in the product brochure on their site.

I'm willing to bet the radio's firmware supports SZ/Omnilink trunking, if the right codeplug bit is enabled.

The 850/8250 (waris) series codeplug files are saved in an encrypted format, however there's nothing stopping anyone from pulling the EEPROM and dumping the codeplug from the radio, which is in its native format.

Does anyone have experience in setting region bytes, options, etc, in the Waris series?

I'll post the EEPROM dump if someone wants to start poking around.

Sounds like a good project. The PRO7750 (LA version of the 8250) is SmartZone, so theoretically it should be possible ... somehow.
