Digital Scanner recommendation

Our Pub. Ed. person wants to be able to monitor our TRS so she can know "when the crews are coming" to her events she has set up for us.
We used to provide her with a radio, but the $57/month fee that the local public utility is charging for us to use their system starts to get a little expensive for a radio that pretty much only monitors.
The TRS is a Smartzone II, and we run in IMBE mode. We have not been rebanded yet.
What would be a good, portable scanner to get for her that will still work after rebanding?

Hi, the BCD396T looks like a good Scanner and they will be a Firmware update for rebanding.

Some people say the Radio Shack/GRE scanners have better audio on digital. You can read numerous lengthy threads here:

Portable or mobile/base?
I've had my BC-796D for a couple of years now and it's been great. Does P25 IMBE, TRS's on V/U/800, Moto, LTR, EDACS.

I have a BC796 for sale used if you are interested
As indicated above, I have a Uniden BC796D for sale. A US Postal money
order for $400 gets it shipped to a US address. I have had this since
November 2004. It has been used exclusively inside in a non-smoking
home. It comes with the orignal box, owners manual, and original
accessories. I can send photographs is necessary. Please send an e-
mail to
[email protected] or call 651-775-3148

I have/have had the RS Pro 96, the BCD296, BCD396, and the BCD996. The 396, and 996 are the best scanners for trunking, and digital I have had. The audio is just fine, the programming is very easy with the Butel software. The new BCD996T can be installed in a DIN slot in your car. They come with all of the hardware.
Just my two cents,
Jim.
