Another R100 Headache

I'm helping out a group with an R100 that doesn't want to transmit. The local PTT switch accomplishes nothing. I tried to read it and the receiver allows me in but the transmitter gives an error of not responding. Am I on the right track by guessing that the logic board in the exciter has gone south?

My two bits worth:
The problem is likely on the transmitter control board, or something connected to it.
You would have to trouble shoot it.
Not the easiest unit to work on.
This gem is made from the MC Micro, made by Motorola in Germany at the Taunstein plant.
What you have is a pile of spare parts.
Find a newer repeater to play with.
Parts would have to come from another unit, as they have not been available for years.

Not a real bad problem to fix, like Bernie says, it could be the TX Command board aka logic board. Checking the voltages on the logic and RF boards is first, then see if the up is running.
If the EEPROM is bad, this happens a lot, the s/w will read as corupt.
Not reading, does the s/w time out on Read?
Stuck PTT line from the large board in the cover, the large board has other known failures that can present simmular symptoms.
I have a test fixture to assist in the RX or TX module repair.

Well Bernie,
I have to agree with you...Its certainly not my first choice of repeaters but I'm kind of doing it as a favor for a local group. As I get into it more I'll post my findings.
