Currently have a system using the Astro T99DX and since it has been discontinued by Motorola had to buy XTL5000 as replacement radio's. The problem is that I have an external control head (not Motorola's) hooked up and the old protocol for the rear connector is SLIP, while the new protocol is PPP. My new radio's don't work. Does anyone know where I may be able to find some Astro's VHF frequency band to replace the XTL' I bought?

ebay?
I doubt the'll have what features you'll need.
Why don't you start by listing the HOST/DSP of the radios your using, and a lot more information about your control head setup and configuration.
SLIP and PPP are internet protocols for routing of IP packets.........
There's more to this than meets the eye...

Sorry I should have posted more info. Here's what I have: D04KHF9PW4AN that is using the RS232 CAI enhanced Astro
Digital communication option to communicate with an external control head that is not Motorola's. The problem is that the development of the external control head was done using SLIP and not PPP. Now the interface has changed an my control head can no longer communicate with the radio. I'm trying to find used Astro's just to see if I can solve the problem in the short term. My problem is that I believe Motorola went to PPP for the rear connector on the Astro's 2 or 3 years ago, which means unless I find 4 or 5 year old radio's I"ll have the same issue as with the XTL's.

If you need a factory control head and remote setup for the XTL, I have a couple.
