if you had to choose and you have both a cdm and a maxtrac. which one would you use as a repeater RX?

MaxTrac....just more reliable and more stable in my experience. If you can get a good, properly tuned maxtrac, by all means go for it.

i'm more for the cdm1250 just because of the display and it can decode mdc. and the cdm will definately do narrow band so you won't have to update it later. i'm actually looking for a cdm1550 vhf for my recieve right now to replace a gm300. i'm going that way because it can decode the emergency signal too.

Most repeaters do not have to do any display, or MDC functions.
I think the CDM receiver may not do as well in a high RF inviroment.
Sometimes the antenna switch has to be bypassed, or the PA removed for better intermod/high RF inviroment opperation with Maxtrac/GM rceivers. just a note!

mine sits on a desk and doubles as the base so the display is seen and used.
