MT1000 Transmitting Problem

I have an 99 channel MT1000 unit that displays "88" on the display unless the VCO lock line is grounded. With the VCO lock line grounded, the radio only transmits for about a second and then stops. I also have an 8 channel MT1000 unit that I believe has no trouble transmitting. Is there any way I can take the VCO from the 8 channel unit and put it in the 99 unit channel? They're both VHF but have different bandsplits (the 8 channel unit has a 146-174 MHz bandsplit and the 99 channel unit has a 146-162 MHz bandsplit). Thanks.

I think you can swap the RF board from the 8 ch into the 99 chan radio.

The VCO module and the Synth modules are soldered into the RF board, and we hated to try and change them, so swapping the VCO module may not cure the problem and the VCO module can be dammaged in the swap.

OK. How do I swap the RF boards? Thanks.
