Hello. I will shortly be receiving a XTS3000, and noticed the radio was a "BN" model revision.
Were there any signifigant inprovements between AN and BN XTS3k releases?

B models have the different front cover connector (internal)
B also was the introduction of the submersible model.
Basicly the same

Are all "B" models submersible? Or is that just a special 'Rugged' version thing?

no thats the XTS3000-R
on the back should be a little screw fitting for pressure testing the radio if it is ruggadized.
They will generally have a green dot on the bottom as well as rugadizzed is also intrinsicly safe.

And you can throw any of those ratings out the door once you pop the cover off it...

I have all the kit including the pressure pump for testing in a bucket of water, the vacum pump for testing out of water and so on.
Aolso any IS radio I open the seals are replaced regardless.when I lived in the UK we had to go for IS recertification every 6 month as we had loads of oil contracts. They mainly used MX1000 submersibles.(sabers)
They also had MX300 submersibles. Now that a rugged radio. It looks like they took the radio and dropped in a bucket of tyre rubber>
Whish I had had a photo of one.
