Im not very familiar with how this works.. trunking or LTR (or if its the same thing). My department had switched to VHF trunking with the CDM1550LS and HT1250LS portables, I have a Spectra T83 VHF in my truck. From what I figure, the Spectra isnt compatible with the system but what other radios are?

Thanks

what's the rest of the model number on your spectra, decode that and see if it's capable of your system. i'm gonna guess no, vhf trunking isn't very popular. your best bet is to find a used ht1550, they'll do vhf trunking, you're gonna have a hard time finding a cdm or a ht1250ls in vhf without ordering a new one.

No, the Spectra was never capable of LTR trunking. Motorola generally identifies their LTR capable models with an "LS" designation after the Model...Maxtrac-LS, HT1250-LS/+, CDM1550-LS/+, CT450-LS, etc. Although not always...there are LTR versions of the GTX portable & mobile, as well as the Radius M500 mobile. The newer PM/PR400 models can do LTR, but I don't think there's an 'LS' badge on them. I'm sure there are others that I'm missing as well.
