Almost did that the first time I changed a case- Are the gaskets usually all "lubed up" ?

not really any lube at all
now that looks like a ruggadized radio
maybe it was ruggadized at some time but I doubt any ebay radios would pass the test.
Simple test put 5 pounds of positive pressure in and throw it in a bucket of water. look for bubbles.Bit hard to prove over ip though.
Of course the easy way is put negative pressure and see if it holds but I like watching firemen when I throw their radios in a bucket.

Do the XTS 5000 R's have their pressure port in a different place than the XTS 3000 R's?
