Help! XTS Transmitt Power

Hello. Upon receiving my UHF XTS3000, and getting it programmed, I noticed that my VISAR, on a Stubby antenna, was BEATING my XTS on a Whip antenna. I had to do the "Statue of Liberty" with the XTS to even kinda bring up the same repeater 20 miles away, where I could have the visar on my lap and get it full quieting. Same with the HT750, better than the XTS even. So, I charged the battery over night, and, still, bad TX.

So, I read the radio in the Tuner App. Here are the softpot values I get for HIGH Power TX:

(Starting at 403.1 and ending at 469.65, in order)

26, 34, 39, 42, 47, 51, 33

Radio model number:
H09RDC9PW5BN
326CCSxxxx

Do these sound about right? Since I don't have a watt meter on hand, I'm unable to test. But do these values at least sound about right?

I was listening to your conservation on FISH the other night while you were describing your problem. I wanted to key up and tell you to look at the SMA connector on the radio and make sure it had not snapped or broken off. However everyone was quick keying.

Check the SMA connector, if that is ok, then you gonna have to get the radio on a watt meter. If you don't have access to a meter, maybe we can meet up sometime - i have a portable meter/dummy load. PM me if you want to meet up.

I'll get my FISH ID soon, so i can join in the fun. FISH is the only decent repeater where the people aren't stuffy - IMHO

I wouldn't screw around in tuner untill you can get the radio on a meter

Hi,
Look in the conventional screen in CPS and you will find on one of the tabs a high power check box. When I got my 3000 I added the power soft key to the menu so I can switch from high to low when I need to.

There is no about "right" on softpots. There is probably an average but I'd leave them alone unless you have the service equipment required.
You may also be off frequency which will affect performance,
Have it tuned in a shop.

Yeah, that isn't a bad system at all. We did astro from my console here and it was great, but not so hot on the XTS. Oh BTW, you can key up on there anyways. MDC ID registration isn't required for access untill 'storm season' is over, as we are obligated to leave the RX'er open on both Astro and Conventional for ID access because we have tower space shared with NOAA, which uses our system.

And, no, the SMA is just fine, however.
