Hi all!

Try to programme Maxtrac (D45MQA5GB5AK) with ribless programmer (genuine Motorola, AARKN4081B), but RSS report me that cant initialize seiral bus (error 5).

Serial port is correct. Connection to PC via D-sub 25 pin to D-sub 9 pin adapter (tested). I try under Win 98 and Win 98's DOS mode. Soft is RVN-4043-S (R05.07.03). Pinout of 8 pin connector (Maxtrac) and 10 pin connector (CDM series), the same.

May be this error happens because of short plug benween 4 & 11 pins does not exist in ribless programmer (I check it - really no short!)?

This short plug is critical in this case?

In any case I can not short this pins, because my PC have 9 pin serial port and I must use D-sub 25 pin to D-sub 9 pin adapter to plug specified ribless programmer. And as result pin # 11 become disconnected from everywhere, because this pin unassigned inside of adapter.

Any ideas?

I see your troubles...

The problem lies with the transition from the 9-pin to the 25-pin adaptor.

The adaptor is probably missing 'key' wires and this is why it failed.

I tried tthat same adaptor on my laptops and had the same trouble.

Your best bet is to use a factory 9 to 25 pin cable, I have one and it works flawlessly as well.

I use genuine Moto adapter. It works with this cable - I sure for 100% because I use it with my CDM radio.

Anybody done Maxtrac programming via CDM ribless cable?
