My question is if you have a xts5000 model-3 how exactly do you make it Front panel programable? Is it in the rss/cps? Or is it a flash-upgrade? If you were to order the software what would you ask for?
Thanks,

i've programed hundreds of 5000's and never ran across that option. i've seen people talk about it on here. i dont' see it on the motorola web site under the description of the radio like it has for the ht1550's and i didn't see the optional battery. i opened a couple codeplugs and i don't see that option anywhere and the help files don't cover it anywhere so i don't think the 5000 is capable of field programing. you can make it so you can alter your scan list or multiple pl's but you can do that with quite a few radios.

Q52 FPP is only really available to higher level government and the USFS. The FCC/govt can get pretty much whatever they want. And the USFS gets FPP because we travel around the country fighting wildfires and have to coordinate with fire departments using hundreds of different frequencies (I know because I use an FPP 5000 for this purpose).

As doug said, I assure you that the 5000's can be flashed for FPP but it costs buku $$$...

Guys, you really gotta use the search feature. That means you too, HLA.
