Hi all
I'm looking at remote mounting some CDM750's and 1550's with the RLN4801 and 4802 kits. Has anyone had alot of experience with these?

Specifically I'm wondering if they have any problems with radios locking up (control head to radio micro communications issues) or any other problems with them.

I have not heard of any problems with the remote mount kits. I have used several with 0 problems.
There was a problem with the Dual Control Kit, which is made by Valley Industrial. Motorola had temporarily stopped selling them. Qickmount (which is Valley Industrial) will still sell their kit for the CDM series. ???

Ditto JD; we've installed about a dozen remote kits and zero problems. The hard part is learning how to use the tool M gives you to separate the head from the radio, but once you're over that slightly heart-stopping hurdle, the installs were a piece of cake and have functioned without failure.

No problems here either. Don't forget to order the cable, unless you're going to make your own.

I have the kit for my CDM1250... I can't program the radio with the remote head on the unit.

But it looks pretty sharp installed. I don't like having to dismantle everything and slap a head directly to the radio to get it programmed though.

Originally we had horrible problems with engine whine on TX with the Motorola remote mount kit. However, their newer version has addressed all of the engine noise issues that I am aware of, and they have been working great so far. I did notice that the back light will not get as bright as it would if it were direct mounted, but it is still bright enough to see at night.

The fire department had similar noise issues with an aftermarket dual head kit. On top of that, it tended to lock up the radio at the wrong moment far too often. We ended up reverting it back to a single head, and used the Motorola kit. No problems with programming either.

i've had problems programming the cdm's with the remote mount kit but other than that they work great.
