Centracom Gold QCII Tones

Post by STicKman »

Where are the QCII Tones generated from? Is there an independent adjustment for the QCII Tones? If not, what level should these be above the audio reference?

We have a CDM1250 Base Station interfaced to a Motorola L3151 Tone Adapter, attached to a BIM Card. This has been working fine for the last five years, but within the last week, we are only receiving approx 1/2s of the initial paging tone, then the L3151 fails to recognize the 2175Hz keying tone and the CDM unkeys. I measured the audio output of the BIM to be approx -8dbm with voice, but the paging tone is approx +10dbm. I believe the paging tone is swamping the L3151 2175Hz decoder circuitry causing the unit to dekey, there are no problems when it is just dispatcher voice audio.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Paging tones are produced in the BIM. They is no independant level control.
The tones are de-empisized, so lower frequency tones are at a higher level than higher frequency tones.
I would try a rest, then a reseat of the BIM.

What radios do you own?: Too many for the time I have.

How far is the radio from the BIM? And what are the paging tone frequencies?

Start by checking your connections, check your line loss between BIM & radio/remote point, check for phoneline wacked out,
