Ive just got MTS2000 UHF trunking radio w/ flashport.
however the previous owner was programming it with LAB software and after that it never powered up again.
no green LED, nothing on the lcd or any sounds. Ive tried pushing another cp thru but i got a 'request not acked/naked error'
however im nore inclined to think a bad flex or something else.
anyone with ideas?

Sorry but when you mix an MTS 2000 & LABTOOLS your radio is TOOLPROOFED. This means the controller is shot unless you saved a copy of your archive. Others here know more than me on trying to save your radio. Good luck. GARY N4KVE

Toolproofing won't DOA a radio like that. It'll still power up, give you the "FAIL 01/93" error message, and let you read from it and write to it.
A badly seated flex or jumper sounds more likely. However, I have seen MTS controllers that would just die for no explicable reason. If that's the case, then you're looking at replacing the entire controller board or trying to get it flat-rated through the M depot.

dollars to donuts someone cracked the case open and tore the controls flex... sometimes the tear is so small you need a magnifying glass to see it
otaku is exactly right - if it's toolproofed, it'll still power up

but if someone hacked into it with lab motorola might not want to work on it.
