IMPRESS BATTERIES

Hello. I recently purchased an Impress charger & I have a few questions. I'm told that if an Impress battery is charged the 1st time on a regular charger the battery strength meter wont work, even if it's charged with an Impress charger after the 1st time. Will the other impress features work? A B3 jedi doesn't have a display so that feature won't work anyway. Say I buy an Impress battery on Ebay. I don't know if the battery has been charged & how,but if it was 1st charged with a normal charger, & an Impress always after that, will all the other Impress features still work? My 2nd question. I have a Motorola tri-chem charger that isn't Impress. Is there any advantage to use the Impress charger on a 7143 Jedi battery or would the regular tri-chem work the same. Thanks for any help. If the battery is initially charged in a non-Impress charger, you lose all of the "smart display" features, such as battery guage/cycle count/date of initial charge/etc. If you later on use it in an Impress charger, you still get the benefits of "smart charging".

Using a "regular" battery in an Impress charger doesn't offer the same "smart charging" benefits, as the battery doesn't contain the circuitry to interface with the Impress charger in that manner. I don't know which one would be "better", but I suspect the Impress charger would revert to a mode of charging operation nearly identical to the tri-chem charger.

Correct. Legacy batteries in an Impres charger will not have a noticeably different charge quality as compared to a legacy charger.

Also, good luck dealing with an ebay seller when buying Impres batteries. One of their best features is the 6-month extension on the warranty

Thank you both. By the way Wavetar I grew up in Montreal many years ago. Trudeau was the PM then but he was also the elected official in our riding. I met him several times. Before he was married he would travel back to Montreal for weekends. He never took the official limo. He would take off in his Mercedes sportscar with the RCMP in hot persuit. LOL. Thanks again guys & if anyone has an extra Impress battery for a jedi I'm game. Doesn't have to be new, just charged Impress since day 1. Thanks GARY N4KVE
