Does anybody know the pinouts for the MX-350/300-S radio? or where I could get a programing cable for it?

Hate to inform you but " The MX Series "
is a Channel Element ( Xtal Controlled ) radio. Uses 1 Channel Element for UHF and
( 2 ) of them for VHF.

The " MX'S " is the ONLY MX series that can
be Porgrammed, but does require a Special
Programmer and EEprom.

who can do the job for you, and you
should condsider sending the whole
radio in as the EEproms are sensitive
to deal with

Further to Monty's info, the EEPROM's come in two versions. The older one is burned forever once you program it and can't be changed. The newer style can be re-burned. Both types are 48 channels, I think, which consists of four banks of 12 channels each.
You can partially burn an EEPROM, leaving the other three, two, or one bank(s) for future use, which sort of assumes that you have a 12-channel MX-S rather than a 48-channel unit, but you get the idea. Selection of which bank to use on a 12-channel MX-S is done via connections to the internal flex cable.

The programmer itself is a suitcase unit with a model number of R-1800 or R-1801 and they still sell for a LOT of money, like just under $2,000, even though the MX-S has been out of production for many years.

Re-burnable EEPROM's are sometimes available from John Panik in Melbourne, FL, but it's probably better to get them from Brinkley or whoever does your programming for you so you have a single, responsible source for the whole job.

To clarify, there is no such thing as a programming cable for an MX radio. The radio has to be partially disassembled and the prom module has to be removed and installed on the R1800 programming adapter, which has to be installed in the R1800 (of course) and the R1800 has to have the MX software chips installed into it.

Motorola still has new eeproms for the MX-S radios. The cost from Motorola is about 75.00 and you need the firmware chip to burn the new eeproms. That cost about 150.00 I believe, I would have to look up my invoice from Moto to find out what the exact cost was. IF you have a A or B version codeplug (PROM or EEPROM) NLN5096A this is a one shot deal. the C&D NLN5096C codeplugs are reburnable. you can remove your codeplug by loosining up the 3 screws that hold it on and look at the side of the code plug. It will have the part number on it....
