Maxar 80 Speaker jumper?

Does the Maxar 80 have an ignition sense pin (or two) on the accessory connector? I'd like to bench test this thing, but it won't power up.

No ignition sense on Maxar 80. Power is either applied to the pins or it isn't.

If it is low power or 800 unit with the connector with all small pins, +12 V is pin 4 (second row from top - outside) and ground is pin 6 (second row next to heat sink). Higher powered units with 2 large pins on top, +12V on outside pin, gnd on inside pin. No ignition sense. Check for voltage at the on/off switch.

It's a UHF one with larger pins for power. I'm assuning the grounded one is negative. OK more probing required. Thanks!

This thing is working better than I thought. I can see the current draw rise when I open the squelch, and advance the volume, but even with Monitor depressed the speaker is silent. Is there a jumper required to enable the internal speaker? Is there an external speaker output on the connector (if so, where)?

That would make a difference, pin 9 is the internal speaker, and pin 12 is the audio output. Yes they are usally jumpered in the standard power cable. The low side of the speaker is grounded on the chassis.

That's the ticket. The only thing that doesn't work now is the pilot light. I think I'll forgive it. Thanks for the help.

I surely didn't recognize that bulb. Thay must have a side deal with Chicago Lamp to use as many types as possible. I don't think I've seen one before. Thanks for the clue.

The #73 lamp is an automotive rated lamp, but they burn out rather easaly. So we put a series resistor in the lamp feed to reduce the voltage just a bit. Same applies to the Mitrek, Maratrac clamshell head.

Sounds like a good idea. Also, depending on the location, they can be difficult to remove or install due to access issues. A drinking straw from your local fast food joint makes a good tool for this.
