MaxTrac programming help

Hello,
I'm using the "RIB-less" programming cable trying to access a MaxTrac, and for whatever reason I'm getting "Error 21 - Radio Not Supported". I'm using RSS 07.02.00 software, which I believe is the latest? Could there be something wrong with my interface cable? It does seem to communicate with the radio. I'm new to this whole RSS/Motorola programming thing so I'm really at a loss here.
Thanks for your help!

Which Rib-Less cable are you using? Most of them are just plain junk, an original or good clone is what you need for a RIB.
Cable aside... What is the model number of the Maxtrac? The version number you mentioned is the latest RSS for a conventional Maxtrac.

Thanks for the reply -- it's a home built RIB cable. I want to mess around with some of this stuff first, then I'll probably get a REAL rib before I try and actually write anything to the radio. The last thing I want is a paperweight. That being said -- it's a D35MWA56C3AK "SmartNet", which does trunking. You said "conventional" radios -- does that mean this doesn't support the trunking radios?
Thansk!

Exactly. There are separate programs for trunking and conventional radios. You can sometimes use the conventional program on a trunking radio, but you'll only see the conventional channels, and may have problems writing the codeplug back. The trunking program will let you change both trunking and conventional channels on those radios that it supports.

Ahh, cool -- that's a big help -- doesn't help me with this radio, but at least I now know what's wrong.

thanks again!
