Re-tuning a VCO for a FAIL 001 ??

Hey guys,
I"ve got an XTS3k I was messing with out of band... I did the CPS hack to get the radio to take the out of band frequencies and it looks like the VCO won't support them. I'm getting a FAIL 001 on all channels that were out of band. My thinking was I've got a 403-470 XTS I use for ham and commerical stuff in 460's. I wanted to be able to monitor some stuff in the low 480's (I know, it was a long shot). If it locked up, I didn't care too much if it was attenuated because I'd either be in town or close to it when monitoring. Doesn't look like it's going to go. I'd rather not swap to a 450-512 radio because then the ham stuff, which is more important than the monitoring stuff would be out of band. Any way to slide this a little up and give up some of my 403-420 for a little 470-490? Any solder strip tricks been published? I looked pretty good... didn't find anything but still hopeful..
Thanks, SCott
